Road trippers who want to experience the life of a rock star can soon take their own luxury tour bus around the West Coast.
Roadies is a new tour company that will take groups on a road trip to some amazing places in California, Nevada and Arizona without anyone from your party having to drive. Perfect for anyone looking to live out an Almost Famous-inspired dream, the coaches are modelled on how stars travel with a lot of modern amenities. Each coach has 11 sleeping pods so you can bring all your friends along, as well as flat screens, Wi-Fi, books, games and of course, snacks. There’s even a bathroom and shower, so you don’t have to worry about staying clean along the way.
Each trip will be run by a tour manager, who will organize experiences along the way, like hiking at the Grand Canyon or heading to the beach in San Diego. Since they will be taking care of the planning and driving, you and your friends – or other travellers from around the world – can spend your time just enjoying the ride.
The company is running two inaugural routes, with tours starting on 3 June. The first is the seven-day West Coast Sunshine & Lights Tour, which begins in San Diego and takes travellers north to Los Angeles, then heads east to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree. After that guests will head to the Grand Canyon before heading to Las Vegas. The tour is open to families with children over 10. Another tour, the seven-day Hot N’ Spicy, travels to the same locations but in reverse order and travellers must be over 21.
Road trippers can also add on new excursions at each stop if they wish, like surf lessons in San Diego or climbing in Joshua Tree. If living on a bus for a week sounds like a bit much for you, the company has partnered with hotels so guests can access amenities and perks, and a reserved parking spot for the coach.
For more information, visit the official website. Rates start at $1299 (£957) per person and each tour sleeps up to 11 travellers.
